A similar system is already in place for emergency situations, such as inclement weather conditions, and the notion was raised at last month's hearing to implement such an alert system for Westwood Lodge patient escapes.

Residents interested in signing up for the alert system must fill out a form available on the town's website, or contact Executive Assistant Christine McCarthy in the Board of Selectmen's Office at 781-326-4172 or at cemccarthy@townhall.westwood.ma.us.  Residents need to supply at least one, but no more than three, phone numbers, as well as an optional email address.

"As part of the Board of Selectmen’s ongoing efforts to work with the lodge to address security  concerns, we will continue to work on our town’s behalf and will communicate progress and decisions related to the lodge," Selectmen Chair Pat Ahearn said in a letter to residents last Monday, March 26. "This [Connect CTY] will allow residents in the community to receive a recorded call and an email to the number of their choice from the Westwood Police Department alerting them to an escape involving an ongoing search."
