Westwood DPW Activity: March 19-25

Find out what else the DPW is up to in town this week.

Among other work this week, the Westwood Department of Public Works will send out asphalt crews to tend to any potholes and patch work on Downey Street and other areas throughout town.

Here's a roundup of what else the DPW will be working on this week in Westwood:

  • Crews will continue sweeping the main streets this week .
  • Crews will be out spring cleaning all town owned properties
  • As the weather permits, the DPW is working on the town's fields to prepare them for the upcoming spring season. 
  • Crews will be addressing sidewalk issues on Parker Street.
  • If necessary, crews will be keeping the streets open with treatment and plowing as needed for snow and ice.
  • The street light contractor will continue working to replace street lights that are out.
  • If you get a chance to drive through the cemeteries, please do. A lot of work has gone into making them beautiful.

The Westwood DPW has also issued the following reminders for residents during the winter months:

  • There is no parking allowed on any street between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. of any day during the period of Dec. 1, 2011 though March 31, 2012.
  • Remove all portable basketball and sports apparatuses off streets.
  • Put markers along property lines to assist the DPW in preventing lawn damage during the winter months.
  • If using a private contractor for removing snow on property during the winter, please ensure that they do not deposit the snow in the public way.
  • Remember to check the Town of Westwood website for any snow updates throughout the winter.

The Westwood Department of Public Works - which maintains the town's streets, drainage systems, sewer collection systems, fields, grounds, cemetery, water quality, trash collection and disposal, recycling collection, public facilities and provides snow removal - is busy every day working to keep the roads safe for residents.
