Westwood DPW Activity: April 30-May 6

Crews will sweep roads around Oak Street and touch up main drags throughout the week, among other activities.

Here's a roundup of what else the DPW will be working on this week in Westwood:

  • The town sweeper will be working off Oak Street and touching up main drags throughout the week.
  • Maintenance crews will be out mowing and maintaining town owned property as well as prep work in anticipation of Memorial Day.
  • Crews will be out spring cleaning all town owned properties and Municipal Buildings.
  • Fields and Grounds crews will be out mowing and maintaining all athletic fields and preparing them each day for all after school programs.
  • Royer tree is scheduled to come into town by the end of the week to deal with a tree issue at the end of Beacon Street and on Gay Street (There was a scheduling conflict last week as the tree work will be back on.)
  • The Highway Department will be coordinating with the Sewer Department to prep and poor a concrete pad at the Clapboardtree pumping station for a generator.
  • Catch basin repairs will take place over the next few weeks at the corner of Baker and Fisher Street, and at the corner of Spellman and Forbes Road.
  • The street light contractor will continue working to replace street lights that are out.
  • If you get a chance to drive through the cemeteries, please do.  A lot of work has gone into making them beautiful.
  • Veteran’s markers and foundations for stone deliveries will be installed this week in the Cemetery.

The following items are very helpful to the DPW:

  • Please do not park on the street during winter storms.
  • Remove all portable basketball and sports apparatus off streets.
  • It is very helpful if you put up markers along your property line to assist us in preventing any lawn damage.
  • If you have a private contractor removing snow on your property make sure they do not deposit it in the public way.
  • Check the Town of Westwood website for any snow updates.
