State Primary Election 2010: Westwood Poll Times and Locations

The polls in Westwood open at 7 a.m. in four locations.

With the 2010 State Primary Election finally here, Westwood officials have opened polls at a number of locations in town, one for each of four precincts.

Westwood Town Clerk Dottie Powers, for one, is expecting a steady turnout for the election, especially considering State Senate candidate Michael Walsh is a fellow Westwood resident.

"Normally, with a primary (election), we might see a 25 percent turnout," Powers said. "I'm thinking we're going to have a pretty good turnout, and I think that's because we have a local resident who's on the ballot."

The State Primary in 2008 only saw 17 percent turnout, Powers said, but the turnout for a Special State Primary in 2009 was closer to 30 percent.

What's more, the Westwood Town Hall sent out about 200 absentee ballots for the upcoming election, which Powers said is a fairly large number. So far, about half of those absentee ballots have been submitted.

"We still have quite a few that have to come back, so I'm hoping that they come back tomorrow," Powers said. "We have to receive them by 8 p.m."
