Selectmen Thank Library Supporters

The Board of Selectmen thanked the many people who helped make the new Westwood Public Library a reality.

The new Westwood Public Library opened its doors for business earlier this month and has already had thousands of visitors.

The Board of Selectmen, which held the first official public meeting in the building on July 1, said the state-of-the-art building would not have been possible without the help of the following people and groups:

  • Library Trustees, both past and present
  • The Permanent Building Committee
  • The Friends of the Library
  • Tom Viti, the Library Director
  • The Town’s staff including, but not limited to, the Finance staff, permitting and inspectional, Public Works and Public Safety that supported and expedited the processes for the approval, funding, construction and completion of the project.
  • The Library Staff who kept services available through the Islington Branch and greatly expanded their job skills in order to provide town residents with many of the building’s new services.
  • Bruce & Barbara MacDonald and Rob & Wendy Malster who have been supportive direct abutters.
  • Finegold, Alexander + Associations
  • Project Managers Design Technique, especially John Sayre-Scibona and Dennis Pacitti
  • All of the contractors and subcontractors that worked on the project
  • And finally, all of the Town residents for their patience and support.

An official open house celebration will be held in the fall.
