Selectmen Roundup: Capital Spending Approved, Westwood Station Updates and New Appointees

A roundup of updates from last week's Board of Selectmen meeting.

Editor's Note: The following are updates and notes from last week's Westwood Board of Selectmen meeting, which took place Monday, Sept. 12 in the Selectmen's Meeting Room at Westwood Town Hall.

Second Quarter Capital Release

The Westwood Board of Selectmen last week approved three items for the second quarter capital release for Fiscal Year 2012, totaling $82,995. The items include:

  • IS-End User Technology - $12,500
  • Police-Cell Audio Monitoring System - $15,000
  • Sewer-Inflow/Infiltration Repair and Lining - $55,495

New Board Appointments

The Selectmen approved a number of newly appointed members on various committiees last week.

Lisa Walker was appointed to the Westwood Cultural Council.

Walker has held leadership positions on the Westwood Young Women's Club, the Westwood Community Chest and the Sheehan Elementary Parent-Teacher Organization, among others. She is also an artist and member of .

Doug Stebbins was appointed as an associate member on the Westwood Zoning Board of Appeals, filling a vacancy left by John Clancy.

Stebbins holds an MBA in finance from the Kellogg School at Northwestern University, and has held several positions in the finance industry. He is presently employed with Consensus Advisors.

Bruce Montgomery was re-appointed to the Long Range Financial Planning Committee. Montgomery is a member of the .

Barb Delisle was also appointed to the committee. Both will serve a term to end on June 30, 2012.

Westwood Station Update

Town Administrator Mike Jaillet confirmed last week that , Texas to buy a portion of its $9.5 billion pool of U.S. real estate loans.

The portion that Lone Star has agreed to purchase includes Westwood Station.

The move comes less than a month after taxes from Commonfund Realty, a key player in the project.
