Planning Board's Chafetz to Step Down, Seat Opens

Westwood Planning Board Member Carol Chafetz is resigning from as of April 23.

Voters in Westwood will have the chance this April to elect a new member to the Westwood Planning Board. 

Board member Carol Chafetz announced this week that she will be resigning effective April 23 due to personal reasons, according to a statement from Westwood Town Hall on Thursday. Chafetz's elected position was due to expire in 2014.

The Westwood Board of Selectmen met Thursday morning to sign a letter to Town Clerk Dottie Powers requesting that the new vacancy on the board be placed on the upcoming April 24 town election ballot to provide registered voters the chance to elect a new board member, who will then serve the remaining term that will expire at the 2014 Town Meeting.

Nomination papers are currently available for residents who wish to be a candidate for the seat in the Town Clerk's office until 5 p.m. on Friday, March March 2. 

The last day to submit nomination papers to registrars of voters for certification is 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 6.
