Officials Recognized for 25 Years of Service

Ellen Hurley, Police Lt. Leo Hoban and Fire Captain Richard Cerullo were all honored for their service this week.

Three Westwood officials were honored for nearly three decades of service to the town on Monday at the Westwood Board of Selectmen meeting.

Ellen Hurley, Westwood Fire Captain Richard Cerullo and Westwood Police Lt. Leo Hoban were all honored for their efforts.

First noted was Hurley, a longtime Westwood resident, serves as the Executive Assistant to Town Administrator Mike Jaillet and the Board of Selectmen.

"She's a joy to speak with even on a tough day," Selectmen Chair Pat Ahearn said at Monday night's meeting, during which Clerk Phil Shapiro awarded Hurley with a ceremonial clock to honor her for her service.

Lt. Hoban was noted for his work with the , having been certified as an officer from the Brookline Police Academy in 1986, and performing a number of duties for the Westwood Police Department.

Among those responsibilities, Hoban is responsible for implementing and planning the department's and serves as the Webmaster for the WestwoodPD.org website. He is currently working to obtain a second master's degree in Criminal Justice.

Also recognized was Westwood Fire Captain Richard Cerullo, who joined the in July 1986 and was promoted to Captain in 2007. He was one of the department's fire paramedics and has been promoted to training officer. Cerullo, a Walpole resident, grew up in Westwood and is the father of five.
