The Westwood Police Relief Association Announces the Retirement of John McHarrie

On Thursday, June 23, 2011, at 6 p.m., The Westwood Police Relief Association will be celebrating the retirement of Officer John (Jack) McHarrie at the Norfolk Golf Club, 166 East Street in Westwood.

Officer McHarrie began his career as a Westwood Patrolman on September 2, 1969.  Throughout his career, he developed a reputation as a tenacious and hard-working patrol officer.  He most recently served as the Department’s Motorcycle Officer, conducting selective enforcement duties on both the day and evening shift.

“The patrol force is the foundation of the police department; the part of the organization that the majority of the public interacts with. Over the years Officer McHarrie was an instrumental part of that division, and he served the community well,” said Westwood Police Chief Bill Chase.
