House Speaker Robert DeLeo is expected to unveil his long-awaited bill to address gun violence in the wake of the 2012 Newtown, CT shooting where a gunman killed 20 children and six adults at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

Massachusetts currently has one of the toughest gun laws in the country.

A DeLeo spokesman promises the legislation being introduced Tuesday will be "comprehensive" and maintain Massachusetts' status as a national leader in gun safety, according to the Boston Herald.

Massachusetts’ current gun laws were enacted in 1998 making the state one of the strictest in the nation. That legislation banned semi-automatic assault weapons, as well as magazines holding more than 10 rounds of ammunition. The laws also required all firearms to be locked and secured.

While the details of the bill are unknown, the Boston Herald is reporting the proposal will draw from the 44 recommendations of a panel earlier this year appointed by the speaker suggesting ways to further reduce gun violence in the state.

The state has one of the lowest rates of households owning firearms, unintentional firearm deaths and non-fatal firearm injuries in the nation, according to the Herald report.

Steven: No , I don't need any coffee. I'm also responding to the post directly below yours from Not So Silence DoBad, re Aunt Zeituni. how'd you miss that? This article is about Gun Control legislation and Silence Dobad throws in Aunt Zeituni, off the wall. You might want to ask him the same question, and ask who his shrink is. Silence DoBad: here's the bottom line , Grandpa. Obama has nothing to do with them, other than they are distant relatives and he is being considerate to distant relatives . If Obama ignored them , you'd fault him for that too, I know how minds like yours work. So in other words according to you the major Obama maladjustment here is that "Omar put Obama up at his place in 1980" and Obama has pictures of his half-uncle "from 25 years ago'. Hope you realize how foolish you sound. on your other point, obama is doing just find , even though your ilk do everything tp try to make him fail. Ain't working.lol

You started your post directly addressed to me, that's why. Or did YOU miss that? "Yes, Steven, civil disobedience does exist, cops don't always catch the criminals, and it's just liberal judges that let them go. Zeituni Onyango, half-sister of Obama's father.....",

bottom line , Steven, I don't need any coffee and I'm sure you have something better to do than nitpick and throw in sarcastic remarks.

Silence Bodad: since u asked and for no other reason. DHS prosecuted the deportation case, White House had no involvement, Obama stated numerous times let the legal system play out and she did not contact Obama, a right wing lie. The other Obama hater accusation was that Obama was paying her legal fees , another lie. Zeituni wasn't even Obama's direct aunt. She was Obama's father's father's third wife's daughter, but that never stopped the right wing echo chamber. Don't u have anything better to do than talk about a dead aunt, not even his aunt, when the topic here is gun control legislation?

And somewhere in the country.... A cop is pulled over after a night of drinking and let go by a fellow cop. I'm sure there is some bureaucratic speak that allows this to be documented without libel but both of us know that this is privilege and euphemisms for corruption.
