Westwood Resident Killed in Woburn Crash

A 57-year-old Westwood man veered out of his lane, causing the fatal accident.

Massachusetts State Police announced on Tuesday night that a Westwood resident was killed earlier in the day during a crash on Route 93 in Woburn.

Police said that preliminary reports indicate that a 2013 Toyota Carolla driven by Westwood resident Xudong Yang, 57, left the marked lane near Exit 37C on Route 93 North and collided with a commercial box truck. The impact sent both vehicles into the guardrail, police said.

Following the crash, the box truck rolled over the guardrail while Yang's vehicle crashed into the guardrail.

Yang was declared deceased at the scene, while the 34-year-old driver of the box truck suffered only minor injuries. The South Dartmouth man was not transported to the hospital.

Police said it is still unclear why Yang's vehicle left the marked lane, causing the crash.

State Police said the accident remains under investigation by Troop A of the Massachusetts State Police, State Police Collision Analysis Reconstruction Section, Crime Scene Services, State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Section and Middlesex District Attorney's Office.
