Westwood Police Log: Warrants Served, Burglary and License Plates Stolen

The following information was provided by the Westwood Police Department. Where arrests are mentioned, they do not indicate conviction.

Monday, August 20

Motor Vehicle Accident (3:13 p.m.) - A 2008 Toyota and a 2008 Ford were involved in an accident near the intersection of High St. and Church St. Minor injuries were reported, but none were severe enough to require transportation to the hospital.

Stolen License Plates (7:47 a.m.) - The owner of a truck came into the station to officially report that his license plates had been stolen off the vehicle. These license plates had, in fact, been used on thefrom South Boston to Burlington the day before.

ARREST, Motor Vehicle Stop & Outstanding Warrant (4:10 p.m.) - An officer had stopped a car in the westbound lane on East St. While the that car was pulled over, a truck and landscape trailer pulled over and was blocking the sidewalk. The officer went over to ask the driver to move the vehicle so pedestrians would be safer and noticed the driver, Marcotulio Melgar, 47, of Central Falls, Rhode Island, did not have a driver's license and had an outstanding warrant out for previously driving without a license.

Sunday, August 26

Burglary (4:30 p.m.) - A High Street resident came home and found the door open. The police determined that a burglary had occured. They noticed that the front door had been partially pried open before it was kicked in some time between 12-4:30 p.m. A quantity of jewelry had been taken. The incident is under investigation.

Monday, August 27

ARREST, Warrants Served (12:24 a.m.) - Westwood police served two warrants to Christian Danis, 46, of Boston at a Providence Highway address. Danis was denied bail and transported to Waltham District Court. Both warrants were motor vehicle related charges.
