Westwood Police Log: Vehicle Searched for Drugs, Cars Broken Into

Westwood Police search a vehicle for drugs and a resident's cars are broken into overnight.

Feb. 24, 10:24 p.m. - During a motor vehicle stop of a 2001 on Providence Highway, Westwood Police, with the assistance of a police K-9 dog, searched the vehicle for drugs that were suspected of being hidden.

After the search, however, it was determined that no drugs were found on the vehicle, and the occupants were sent on their way.

Feb. 26, 9:07 a.m. - A resident of High Street reported to police that during the overnight hours, two of three vehicles that were parked on their driveway had been entered and items were removed from within.

Ski equipment and some residential plumbing items were removed from a Jeep Liberty and a Mercedes, police said. The vehicles were unlocked at the time.

Feb. 28, 7:43 a.m. - Police responded to the area of East Street and Smith Drive, after a 2001 Mercury and a 2008 Nissan collided.

The Mercury had been traveling east on East Street when the Nissan, which was exiting Smith Drive onto East Street, pulled out, causing the collision. Both operators were transported to Norwood Hospital complaining of injury.

Police on scene reported that the road conditions were icy at the time of the accident; both cars were towed from the scene.
