Westwood Police Log: Vandalism at Norfolk Golf Club, Driver Cited

Damage to Golfing Green
Aug. 16, 7:53 a.m. - Managers at the contacted Westwood Police to report that malicious damage had been done to the green on the first hole of the course.
Upon arrival police determined that it appeared a pin in the hole had been used to puncture holes into the grass of the green. It was believed that the incident happened over the previous weekend.
Extra trucks were requested for patrol, and the matter is under investigation.
Driver Leaves Scene of Accident
Aug. 16, 12:25 p.m. - Westwood Police cited a driver in a two-car accident on Providence Highway.
The incident occurred in a parking lot at near the Westwood Audi dealership.
According to reports, a 1999 Kenworth truck-trailer vehicle attempted to back into the gas station to make a gasoline delivery, when a 1998 Ford struck the truck on the driver's side tire.
The driver of the Ford failed to identify himself and left before police arrived.
Police were able to make contact with the operator, whom they cited for leaving the scene of an accident with property damage. The driver told police that he left the scene because he was late returning to work from a lunch break.
