Westwood Police Log: Trash Cans Thrown in Street, Bags of Mulch Stolen

A man's trash was scattered into the street, while another resident's lawn mulch was stolen, and vandals ripped a mailbox out of the ground.

August 30, 6:11 a.m. – Westwood Police received a report from a resident on Perry Drive that his trash cans had been thrown in the middle of the street during the overnight hours.

It was unclear how many trash cans were thrown, police said, but the trash inside had been scattered throughout the street causing a mess.

August 30, 7:07 a.m. – A resident on Twin Post Road in Westwood reported to police that four bags of lawn mulch were stolen from his home over night, police said.

The resident had apparently stacked the bags out on his front lawn, police said. It was not immediately clear how much the bags of mulch were worth.

August 30, 9:47 a.m. – A Whitney Avenue resident reported to police that the mailbox in front of their home had been stolen.

Officers checked the area and located the mailbox, which was still attached to its post, in a wooded lot down the road form the residence. The mailbox was not damaged, and appeared to have been pulled straight from the ground.
