Westwood Police Log: Smash & Grab Pocketbook

The following information was provided by the Westwood Police Department. When arrests are mentioned they do not indicate a conviction.

Tuesday, November 20

Motor Vehicle Stop & Summons (4:33 p.m.) - A motor vehicle was stopped on Beverly Ln. and a criminal summons was issued to the operator for operating an unregistered motor vehicle, operating an uninsured vehicle and attaching the wrong plates to a motor vehicle.

Auto Break-in (7:37 p.m.) - Officers were called to the AT&T Store on Providence Hwy. where a vehicle's window had been smashed. The owner of the vehicle stated that a small red pocketbook with a camera had been taken. A report was filed.

Wednesday, November 21

Vandalism (6:50 a.m.) - A Lorraine Rd. resident reported that their mailbox had been damaged overnight. Extra checks in the area were requested.

Strange Car (7:12 a.m.) - A Sexton Ave. resident reported that a small gray car was parked in front of their house. An officer checked and found that the owner of the vehicle was staying next door for the holidays.

Leaf Bags in Street (7:36 a.m.) - Leaf bags were all over the roadway on Lake Shore Dr. The Department of Public Works was contacted to assist.

Suspicious Vehicle (7:57 a.m.) - A resident on Lull St. reported a person sitting in a vehicle out on the street. An officer checked, and the operator of the vehicle was a contractor waiting to install a fence on the street, but he was early to the job.
