Westwood Police Log: Officer Struck by Vehicle, Business Broken Into

A Westwood Police Officer was injured by a car, while a local business was broken into.

March 18, 10:27 a.m. - A Westwood Police Officer working detail at 710 High Street was struck by a 2007 Toyota while on the roadway, according to police reports.

The officer was transported to Norwood Hospital where he was later released after complaining of stiffness and soreness, police said.

The driver of the Toyota was an 80-year-old man, who received a citation for negligent operation of a motor vehicle.

March 18, 9:09 p.m. - Police responded to 270 University Avenue after a burglar alarm went off at a business there.

Upon arrival, police determined that the business was entered, and the matter remains under investigation.
