Westwood Police Log: Motorist From Bridgewater Cited, Suspicious Car at Budget Inn

An East Bridgewater man was stopped and cited for driving without a license, while police approached a suspicious couple at the Budget Inn.

August 25, 4:16 p.m. – Westwood Police cited an East Bridgewater man after he was stopped for speeding on High Street.

Police said they stopped the 47-year-old male, who was traveling at about 49 miles per hour in a 35 m.p.h. zone, after attempting to get the driver to slow down. After stopping the vehicle, a 1997 Mercury Grand Marquis, police cited the man for driving without a license and for speeding.

August 25, 7:19 p.m. – Officers spotted a suspicious vehicle with two passengers in the parking lot of the Budget Inn on Providence Highway.

Initially, officers believed there only to be a female, a 25-year-old from Milton, in the car, who had been sitting in the passenger seat of the 2002 Toyota 4Runner.

Upon approaching of the car, police then found the woman had moved to the driver's seat, and a 25-year-old male from Randolph had been sitting in the back of the vehicle.

According to reports, the owner of the vehicle had an outstanding arrest warrant, though the car did not belong to either passenger, and police determined it to be a borrowed vehicle.

Police confiscated a grinder containing traces of marijuana residue, and advised the couple to either get a room at the lodging or to move along. No charges were filed against the two, who then left the area.
