Westwood Police Log: Misplaced Backhoe, Mysterious Person at Hanlon

Backhoe Goes Missing

Aug. 30, 8:39 p.m. - A resident of Pond Plain Road reported to Westwood Police that someone had driven away from his property with a backhoe that was being used for construction.

Police responded to the area and were unable to locate the backhoe. No other equipment was reported stolen.

The matter was not investigated further as police said it appeared to be a legitimate removal of the vehicle from the contractor on the site.

Mysterious Flashlight at Hanlon School

Aug. 30, 8:43 p.m. - A concerned resident of Gay Street called police to report a suspicious person walking around the with a flashlight.

Police responded to the area and found a custodian on the scene. Both inspected the premises and neither reported anything suspicious in the area.
