Westwood Police Log: Mailbox Damage on Clapboardtree St., Stolen Tools on Pettees Pond Ln.

A mailbox was accidentally damaged by a contractor, while another contractor reported stolen tools from a local construction site.

July 16, 1:24 p.m. – A Clapboardtree Street resident called police to report that his mailbox had been removed from his property.

Westwood Police responded to the scene and spoke with the resident, who was later able to locate the mailbox. It appeared that the mailbox had been knocked off its post by a contractor doing work nearby, according to reports.

The resident looked to speak with the contractor to get restitution for the damage, and police instructed the resident to contact them if the contractor had not been located. As of Tuesday, July 20, Police had not heard back regarding the incident, believing it to be resolved.

July 19, 9:20 a.m. – Police received a report of stolen tools at a construction site on Pettees Pond Lane.

A contractor at the site reported to police that several tools and saws had been taken from the home that was under construction.

Six items had been stolen from the site, including a generator, pry bar, coring machine and table saw, police said. The matter is still under investigation.
