Westwood Police Log: Loring St. Home Entered, Car Hits Pole on Thatcher St.

Police are investigating a potential break-in to a local home, while a local driver hit a telephone pole after a tire burst.

August 11, 11:35 a.m. – Westwood Police responded to a Loring Street home recently after the resident reported that the home had been broken into.

While there was no apparent forced entry to the house, police did find a screen on one of the windows to have been bent.

The resident said she had noticed the screen a day earlier but did not notice anything missing until later, when she found some gold pieces from a jewelry box and some quarters from a dish to have been missing, according to reports.

Nothing else seemed to be missing from the house, police said, and the matter is still under investigation.

August 13, 11:35 a.m. – A car driven by a local teen crashed into a telephone pole on Thatcher Street due to a ruptured tire, according to reports.

The car, a 1991 Chrysler, driven by a 17-year-old female from Westwood, was traveling on Thatcher Street when the right front tire popped, causing the operator to drive off the road and strike a telephone pole.

The pole was not damaged, police said, and the car simply bounced off. No injuries were reported in the accident.
