Westwood Police Log: Driver Cited for Revoked License, Checks Bounce at Lambert's

Police issue a citation to a driver for a revoked license, and look through some checks that bounced at Lambert's grocery.

December 12, 9:01 p.m. – Westwood Police issued a citation for the driver of a 2000 Lincoln on Washington Street, after discovering, during a routine motor vehicle stop, that the driver's license had been revoked.

The vehicle was towed from the scene and the driver was later picked up by an associate, police said.

December 13, 8:47 a.m. – A local business on Providence Highway requested police assistance regarding a number of checks that were cashed with insufficient funds.

About three separate checks were involved, having been used at Lambert's on Route 1 in Westwood. It wasn't immediately clear from reports what the dollar amount of each was, though police estimated that each check was under $150.

December 13, 12:27 p.m. – Westwood Police responded to Hartford Street, where a resident reported that his home had been broken into sometime between 9 a.m. and noon.

Police determined that entry was gained through a ground-level window, and a number of items were reported missing from the home, including some small home appliances, jewelry, and some personal items.

The matter is under investigation.
