High Street Resident Falls Victim to Bank Scam

Nov. 15, 10:54 a.m. - A resident of High Street reported to Westwood Police that they had received a letter in the mail stating that they had won $585,000, and a check with a portion of the money was included in the package. 

The resident deposited the check and within two days the check had bounced, police said. The issue turned out to be a scam and police are reminding residents that if they don't enter a contest and receive a piece of mail stating so to ignore it.

Package Stolen from Beacon Street

Nov. 15, 4:01 p.m. - A package that was delivered to a Beacon Street residents by the U.S. Postal Service was later stolen from the front porch of the home.

The matter is under investigation, and police said such an incident is common around the holidays.
