Westwood Police Log: Attempted Car Theft, Dedham Man Arrested

Near Car Theft at Islington Staton

Oct. 26, 7:30 p.m. - responded to the Islington Train Station on Carroll Avenue in response to a caller who reported that someone had broken into their Volkswagen Passat. 

The vehicle was reportedly locked at the time, and there was apparent damage to the door lock and ignition.

Nothing was reported stolen from the vehicle, and it was beleived that the perpetrator attempted to steal the vehicle itself. 

Dedham Man Arrested on Clapboardtree Street

Oct. 28, 1:03 p.m. - Westwood Police arrested a Dedham man for larceny after they observed him rummaging through mailboxes and removing mail from them on Clapboardtree Street.

Steve Rodriguez, 18, of 334 Whiting Ave. in Dedham was arrested and charged with two counts of larceny. 

Police notified U.S. postal inspection services of the incident.
