Westwood Police Log: Arrests Carried Out for DUI, Abuse

Drunk Driver from Norwood Drives Through Fence on University Ave.

A Norwood man was arrested last week for driving through town under the influence of alcohol, according to police reports.

Westwood Police responded to reports of a one-car accident on University Avenue around 1:35 p.m. on Tuesday, July 6, after a 2005 Lexus failed to turn properly around a curve on the road and hit the curb before turning sharply and crossing the opposite lane.

The Lexus then drove over a sidewalk and through a four-foot temporary fence belonging to New England Sports Academy, before backing up and driving across the street.

Westwood Police were able to make contact with the operator, and arrested him for driving under the influence of alcohol in addition to being charged with negligent operation of a motor vehicle, having an open container of alcohol in the car, and a marked lanes violation.

Domestic Disturbance on Pond Plain Road

A 17-year-old male was arrested on Sunday, July 10 at around midnight after police received reports of a domestic disturbance at a Pond Plain Road residence. The suspect, a Westwood resident, was arrested and charged with assault and battery.
