Westwood Police Log: Another String of Car Break-Ins Hits Westwood

Five separate break-ins were reported, according to police reports.

April 12, 3:07 p.m. - Westwood Police received a report from a resident of Westwood Glen that a 1998 Volkswagon, which was parked in the lot at the apartment complex, had been broken into, and $5 in quarters had been stolen. The vehicle was unlocked during the incident, police said.

April 13, 6:26 a.m. - An unlocked 2007 Toyota, parked at a residence on School Street, was entered during the overnight hours, according to police reports.

Taken from the vehicle was a Garmin GPS device, valued at about $300, police said.

April 13, 7:41 a.m. - A 2009 Toyota was reportedly locked when it was broken into while parked in a driveway on Grafton Avenue, according to police.

The rear driver's side window was smashed with a boulder, police said, and a backpack was taken from the vehicle. The owner of the vehicle originally thought a laptop had been in the backpack, but later found the computer had been left at the resident's place of employment, police said.

April 15, 5:44 a.m. - A GPS device was removed from a 2007 Toyota that was parked on Dean Street during the overnight hours, police said. 

The owner of the vehicle reported that the car was locked at the time of the incident. Police found no forced entry had been made to the vehicle. The GPS device was valued at $200.

April 18, 2:33 p.m. - Another GPS device, valued at $85, was taken from an unlocked 2007 Ford that was parked on Sunrise Road. 

All incidents are under investigation, police said. A string of took place last September, and police subsequently involved. 

Police have not indicated if the more recent incidents were related.
