Westwood Police Launch Drunk Driving Crackdown

The federally funded Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over program runs from Aug. 16 to Sep. 2.

The Westwood Police Department will participate in a statewide drunk driving crackdown that will bring intensified enforcement of impaired driving laws to town.

“The sad but true reality is that the number of drivers operating under the influence increases during holiday weekends, particularly during the summer”, said Chief Jeffrey Silva.

“Adding to this sadness is that fact that innocent people often suffer tragic consequences caused by these alcohol related accidents.  The Westwood Police Department is committed to service for our community and is committed to keeping the streets in it safe, so we will be intensifying enforcement during this crackdown, especially during nights and weekends when impaired drivers are most likely on our roadways, Silva said.”
