UPDATED: Westwood Home Struck by Three-Alarm Fire

Westwood Fire Crews responded to the fire on Washington Street early Thursday morning.

7:05 a.m. - Two occupants residing at the home of Thursday morning's three-alarm fire were safely escorted from the building this morning, according to an early morning incident report by Westwood Police.

The fire broke out at 233 Washington Street and was reported around 12:20 a.m. Thursday, when Westwood Police discovered the home had been completely engulfed in flames. Police then awoke the two residents of the home by turning on the sirens of a police cruiser and escorted them out.

An off-duty Westwood fire fighter was also on scene, and the Westwood Fire Department arrived shortly thereafter, taking control of the scene.

Firefighters at one point had been evacuated from the building with fire going through the roof of the home, and heavy fire was reported on all floors of the building, according to early, unconfirmed reports.
