Police Respond to Robbery at Cooperative Bank

The suspect is described as a white male in his 20s, with a scruffy beard and scally cap.

A man described as being in his 20s with a scruffy beard and wearing a scally cap robbed the Cooperative Bank Wednesday afternoon, according to Westwood Police who were at the scene. 

The bank, which is located on Washington Street in Islington, closed its doors to the public during the investigation. 

The suspect in question handed over a note to a bank teller, intimidating that he had a weapon, but no weapon was revealed, police said.

A vehicle with Rhode Island plates was towed from the parking lot behind CVS Pharmacy, which is across the street from the bank. It is believed that the vehicle belongs to the suspect.  

Westwood Police could not provide many details Wednesday, other than to say that people of interest were in custody, and that the vehicle was towed belonged to one of them.
