Police Log: Tools Stolen During Commercial Break-In

The Westwood Police Department provided the following information.

Wednesday, Feb. 6

2:29 a.m.: Officers responded to a break-in on University Avenue. When officers arrived they discovered the front door to the Milwaukee Electric Tool Company had been smashed. Ten to 15 tools were stolen. The Westwood Police Department is currently reviewing security footage and is actively investigating the break-in.

1:15 p.m.: A resident went in to the police station to report that she lost a quarter sized earring with pink stones on Oak Street.

Thursday, Feb. 7

12:56 a.m.: A caller reported a suspicious person shining a flashlight at cars on University Avenue. The suspicious person was a police officer who was checking parked cars.

9:18 a.m.: Police are seeking a summons to charge a 59 year old male from Roxbury with leaving the scene of property damage after he was involved in a car crash on High Street. The driver had reportedly rear-ended another vehicle at an intersection.

11:35 a.m.: A caller expressed concern that a neighbor’s dog was on the porch in the freezing temperatures. The Animal Control Officer contacted owner

1:03 p.m.: The Animal Control Officer retrieved a Westwood resident’s dog that had wandered into Dedham.

3:20 p.m.: A caller from Grove Street reported that their real estate agent had been showing without permission of homeowner

9:36 p.m.: One person was transported to the hospital after a two-car crash on Washington Street at School Street.
