Police Log: Theft at Lambert's, Pond Street House Break and a Missing Mailbox

The following information was supplied by the Westwood Police Department for the week of June 5-11. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Sunday, June 10

Missing Mailbox Investigated (10:15 a.m.) - A Blue Hill Drive resident reported to Westwood Police on Sunday that his mailbox was missing and had been taken during the overnight hours. Upon arrival, police determined that the mailbox had been ripped off its post. The matter is under investigation.

Money Stolen from Lambert's (7:45 a.m.) - An employee of on Providence Highway reported to police that someone had entered the store's main office and stole an undisclosed amount of money. The worker observed the suspect and described him to police as a black male, who had allegedly operated a vehicle that had been stolen from Boston and was later recovered in Needham. The matter remains under investigation.

House Break on Pond Street (2:19 p.m.) - A resident of Pond Street reported to police that, between Sunday, June 3 and Wednesday, June 6, someone had entered their home and took jewelry from the master bedroom. Police are investigating the possibility that the incident is connected with a . No forced entry was discovered at the Pond Street residence, though police believe entry was gained through an unlocked sliding door. 

Driver Arrested for Multiple Offenses (1:05 a.m.) - Police arrested the driver of a 1994 Cadillac on High Street after determining the vehicle to be traveling at 70 miles per hour on Providence Highway. The driver, a 24-year-old female from Dedham, failed to stop for police on the road until entering Dedham, when officers made contact with the driver and arrested her for operating a vehicle while under the influence of liquor, a marked lanes violation, failure to stop for a police officer and speeding.
