Police Log: Stolen Cell Phones at Thurston, Marijuana Found in Car Near McDonald's

The following information was supplied by the Westwood Police Department for the week of Feb. 27-March 4. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Saturday, March 10

Pot Confiscated Near McDonald's (5:34 p.m.) - Westwood Police approached a suspicious looking vehicle in the McDonald's parking lot on Providence Highway, specifically in the area of an ATM located near Glacier Drive. Police approached two male occupants who were reclined in the vehicle, and discovered a small quantity of marijuana within the confines of the vehicle's passenger compartment. The amount of marijuana was determined to be under one ounce, and as such issued a civil citation to the occupants of the vehicle.

Break-In Follow Up (3:41 p.m.) - Police received a follow-up report from a Dela Park Road resident who . The resident later found that a planter pot had been smashed in a nearby garage and a box had been knocked over, police said.

Medfield Man Arrested (2:36 p.m.) - Police from Westwood and Dover arrested a 40-year-old Medfield man on an outstanding warrant issued out of Boston Municipal Court relating to a probation matter. Police identified the resident and arrested him while he was walking along Westfield Street.

Cell Phone Theft at Middle School (8:20 a.m.) - Police received a report from officials at that several cell phones have been stolen during the last several weeks. The majority of the phones, police said, belonged to students, and were traditionally being taken from lockers. The matter is under investigation. 

Monday, March 5

Wallet Missing at Roche Bros. (6:34 p.m.) - A shopper at on Washington Street reported to police that while shopping at the store, she believed her wallet was stolen. Police responded to the store and reviewed surveillance video of available locations within the market, but came up with negative results.
