Police Log: Patient Escapes Over Westwood Lodge Fence

Sunday, July 1 

Westwood Man Arrested (8 a.m.) - Westwood Police arrested a 20-year-old man in the area of Winter Street and Dela Park Road for being a minor in possession of alcohol. The man was spotted walking down the street carrying a bottle of vodka, police said.

Westwood Lodge Patient Escapes (6:32 p.m.) - Westwood Police received a report of a 28-year-old patient having escaped on Clapboardtree Street. The man eloped from the facility by climbing over a . The patient, police said, was not deemed to be dangerous, and Westwood police searched the area with the assistance of a Massachusetts State Police K-9 unit. On July 1, around 8 a.m., Westwood Lodge received a call from the patient, who claimed he was in Providence, Rhode Island and that he was okay. The Providence Police Department was subsequently notified, and as of Monday, July 1, the patient was still listed as a "missing person," according to Westwood Police.

Equipment Stolen on University Avenue (7:21 p.m.) - Sears Logistics on University Avenue reported that someone had entered a parked truck on the premises by smashing the driver's side window. Taken from the cabin of the vehicle was a cordless drill and a driver. The matter is being investigated.

Youths Spotted Running Into Bushes (2:53 a.m.) - An ambulance that was en route to a medical call reported to Westwood Police that two suspicious individuals were seen running into bushes near the on High Street around 3 a.m. Officers responded to the area and located two 17-year-old males, both of whom were transported to their respective homes. 

Monday, June 25

Assault, Theft on Providence Highway (10:34 p.m.) - An individual reported to Westwood police that he was venturing to the Bank of America ATM near McDonald's on Providence Highway, when he became engaged in a road-rage incident with another vehicle. The individual pulled into the parking lot near the ATM before what he described as two white males go out of their vehicle and began yelling at him. The driver of that vehicle was described as a man in his 40s and the passenger a man in his 20s. A physical altercation ensued, police said, during which the belongings of the first individual fell out of his pocket. The other two men then allegedly picked up the items and rove away. Police are investigating the incident through surveillance footage and through discussions with nearby businesses. 

Budget Inn Theft (8:08 p.m.) - A former occupant of the reported that he left the facility with the intent to return to pick up belongings he was leaving there temporarily. Upon returning, the former occupant claimed that medication had been stolen among his items.
