Police Log: Car Strikes Crossing Guard, Open Container Arrest

The following information was provided by the Westwood Police Department. Charges do not indicate a conviction.

Wednesday, Jan. 2

1:25 a.m.: An officer responded to a group of suspicious people at Lapels Dry Cleaning on Washington Street. The officer reported the people there "checked out."

7:35 a.m.: A Norwood resident reported a car struck a crossing guard on Nahatan Street. The driver was cited for failure to stop for an individual in a crosswalk. The crossing guard was transported to Norwood Hospital complaining of pain.

8:39 p.m.: After a motor vehicle stop, officers arrested Brian Cobb, 34, from 106 Standard Street in Mattapan and charged him with operating on a suspended license, operating with an open container of alcohol and operating without an inspection sticker.
