Police Log: Arrests, Damaged Vehicles and Shoplifting

The following information was supplied by the Westwood Police Department for the week of April 9-16. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Friday, April 13

Medfield Man Arrested for OUI (11:23 p.m.) - Westwood Police arrested a Medfield man after receiving a call from a concerned resident that a male driver had been slumped over the steering wheel of his vehicle on High Street. Police investigated and arrested at 52-year-old Medfield man for driving under the influence of liquor. 

Police Confiscate Pot from Teens (4:55 p.m.) - Police responded to Harvard Street on a report of juveniles using scooters on the sidewalk of the neighborhood. Upon arrival, police confiscated a small amount of marijuana from one of the two male juveniles and sent the two on their way.

Roslindale Man Arrested for Drunk Driving (1:10 a.m.) - While conducting stationary radar on Providence Highway, Westwood Police stopped a vehicle driven by a 20-year-old Roslindale man whom they deemed to be under the influence of alcohol. The driver had been driving faster than the posted 50 mile an hour speed limit on the road, and after being stopped by police, failed a field sobriety test.

Shoplifter at Roche Bros. (4:45 p.m.) - Westwood Police received a call from management, who claimed that someone had been spotted shoplifting at the store. Officers responded to the store and made contact with management, who then told the individual, with officers present, to leave and was no longer welcome to shop there. The man left without incident, police said. 

Monday, April 9

Car Damaged at Enterprise (5:54 p.m.) - An employee of Enterprise Rent-a-Car on Providence Highway notified police that a 2011 Ford Explorer that had been parked in the lot had suffered a cracked driver's-side window during the weekend. The damage, police said, was most likely caused by a BB pellet.

Boston Man Arrested on Warrant (12:57 p.m.) - Westwood Police arrested a 23-year-old Boston man on a warrant out of Dorchester District Court. The warrant was issued for allowing injury to a person over 65, police said.
