Former Westwood Resident Due in Court July 19 for Partners Healthcare Theft

Carol Peterson and her husband are facing charges of stealing roughly $500,000 from Partners Healthcare.

Former Westwood resident Carol Peterson and her husband Robert will appear in court next week stemming from charges that they stole about $500,000 from Partners Healthcare last year.

The couple will be appearing in Norfolk Superior Court in Dedham on Tuesday, July 19, and is accused of submitting false invoices to Partners, of which Carol Peterson was formerly employed.

Carol Peterson, 59, was , which charged her with two counts of $250 by scheme, two counts of false entries in corporate books, and conspiracy. Robert Peterson was indicted on charges of larceny over $250 by scheme, and conspiracy.

The invoices were allegedly submitted to Partners from three companies the couple created. The indictments allege that the Petersons stole about $450,000 from Partners Community Health Care, Inc. (PCHI), a branch of Partners Healthcare, through fraudulent invoices from the companies they created and controlled.

Carol Peterson was also indicted in connection with billing her employer for numerous personal expenses that she fraudulently claimed were business related, according to an announcement by Attorney General Martha Coakley’s Office.

Cell phones, GPS devices, cameras, DVDs and office supplies are among the items that Carol Peterson allegedly purchased with the stolen money, which amounted to about $36,000.

Peterson had been the executive director of two medical practices connected with PCHI.
