Dunkin Donuts Break-In Could be Connected to Other Incidents

The following information was supplied by the Westwood Police Department.

A break in at Monday night could be connected to similar incidents that have occurred in Norwood and throughout the South Shore in recent months, Westwood Police said.

Police responded to a burglar alarm at the coffee shop around 9:43 p.m. Monday; a key holder to the business arrived shortly thereafter.

After viewing surveillance footage, police determined that two suspects were observed entering Dunkin Donuts through a side door, and made an attempt to access a safe, but were unsuccessful.

The suspects then attempted to enter the store's office, and were able to do so, but  were in there for a short period before exiting the coffee shop through the same door through which they entered.

It did not appear that anything of value was stolen from the business, police said.

The incident could be in connection with a similar break-in at a Dunkin Donuts in Norwood about two weeks ago, police added, in addition to a string of similar incidents on the South Shore.

The matter is under investigation.
