Cyclist Injured, Transported by MedFlight Over Weekend

A cyclist was thrown from his bike after hitting a curb.

A bicyclist was transported by MedFlight to a Boston hospital on Friday afternoon after being ejected from his bike on Hartford Street, said Monday.

The cyclist, police said, was traveling eastbound on High Street before the incident, which occured around 5:30 p.m. Friday. Witnesses told police that the cyclist veered to the right and struck the curbing of the road.

"The cyclist was ejected from the bicycle," said Westwood Police Detective Paul Toland. "He hit the sidewalk and slid 15-20 feet on the asphalt. The cyclist himself fell off the bike; there was no contact with any motor vehicle."

The victim was transported by MedFlight as a result of concerns surrounding his medical condition, Toland said.
