Corrections Officer Indicted for Stealing Thousands of Dollars From Vending Machines

Bay State Correctional Center employee has been indicted on breaking and entering and larceny charges in connection with more than $8,000 he allegedly stole from vending machines in Dedham.

 

Donald Packard, 36, employee of The Department of Correction, was indicted today by Norfolk County Grand Jury on the charges of Breaking and Entering into a Depository of Money (7 counts) and Larceny over $250.

Authorities allege that between Sept. 2011 and July 2012 Packard stole money from various vending machines in the Norwood, Westwood, and Dedham areas.

The investigation revealed that Packard targeted vending machines made by the company he use to work for.  Authorities allege that he kept the key after he was no longer employed and used it to steal more than $8,000 from the vending machines.

According to The Department of the Attorney General, Packard is due for arraignment on Oct. 19 in Norfolk Superior Court.
