Car Crashes into Westwood Fire Dept., Damages Door

No one was seriously injured in the accident Thursday.

The operator of a 1999 Accura drove his car into the front door of the on High Street Thursday morning, police said.

No one was seriously injured during the incident, which took place around 10:40 a.m.,  though the driver was transported to Norwood Hospital suffering from minor pain.

The driver, who had been pulling into the parking lot of the department to apply for a permit, told police he wasn't sure what had happened that led to the accident.

The glass of the door to the front entrance of the department was shattered as a result of the crash, the windows on either side were broken, and the interior wall was pushed back some four to six inches, police said.

The vehicle was towed from the scene, and the building inspector is investigating the damages. It was not immediately clear how much the damages were in dollar amount.
