The following press release was submitted by the Westwood Police Department.
On Monday, Sept. 9, 2013, the Westwood Police Department responded to a report of a past 'Breaking and Entering' of a residence on Willet Pond Drive.
The homeowner arrived home shortly before 8:00 p.m. to find the home had been burglarized. It was determined that entry had been gained by accessing a window leading into a screened-in porch. A crow-bar was then used to pry a door leading from the porch into the home. Jewelry was stolen from the home along with some electronics.
The event occurred sometime between 11 a.m. and 7:45 p.m. on Sept. 9.
Westwood Police are investigating the incident with forensic processing of a number of items recovered at the scene.
Residents Urged to Report Suspicious Activity
Residents are asked to dial 9-1-1 to report any suspicious activity observed within their neighborhood. It is helpful if observations deemed suspicious are reported as soon as possible, so that a rapid deployment of officers can determine if the reported activity in a neighborhood is criminal in nature. If a home is equipped with an alarm system, officers are asking that the alarm be armed prior to departing the home, and to ensure windows and doors are locked.
Police are in communication with area towns to pool investigative resources and share information relative to on-going investigations of residential housebreaks.
