Here's a roundup of what the Westwood Department of Public Works will be working on this week in town:
- The town sweeper will be working off Oak Street and touching up main drags throughout the week.
- Maintenance crews will be out mowing and maintaining town owned property as well as prep work in anticipation of Memorial Day.
- Crews will be out spring cleaning all town owned properties and Municipal Buildings.
- Fields and Grounds crews will be out mowing and maintaining all athletic fields and preparing them each day for all afterschool programs.
- The Highway Department will be coordinating with the Sewer Department to prep and poor a concrete pad at the Clapboardtree pumping station for a generator.
- Catch basin repairs will take place over the next few weeks at the corner of Baker and Fisher Street, and at the corner of Spellman, University Ave and Forbes Road.
- Mulch will be applied to all traffic islands, municipal buildings, and the cemeteries starting on Tuesday May 15th (Weather Permitting)
- The street light contractor will continue working to replace street lights that are out.
- If you get a chance to drive through the cemeteries, please do. A lot of work has gone into making them beautiful.
- Veteran’s markers and foundations for stone deliveries will be installed this week in the Cemetery.

- Please do not park on the street during winter storms.
- Remove all portable basketball and sports apparatus off streets.
- It is very helpful if you put up markers along your property line to assist us in preventing any lawn damage.
- If you have a private contractor removing snow on your property make sure they do not deposit it in the public way.
- Check the town website for any snow updates.
