Santa Puts Smiles on Faces at Islington Community Center
Santa visited Islington Saturday as part of a fundraiser for Westwood Day.
On a beautiful but cold Saturday morning, Westwood families made their way to the to get a chance to see Santa Claus.
The day was a complete success, Westwood Recreation Director David Burnes said on Saturday, as families rolled into the building.
Burnes noted that it was a chance for local residents to give feedback about potential programs hosted by the Westwood Recreation Department.

"It was a great turnout," Burnes said. "It was a huge success and it's awfully convenient for the families around here."
Santa was at the Islington Community Center from 9 a.m. to noon. Families paid $10 to have a chance to talk to Santa and tell him exactly what they wanted for Christmas - that is, of course, if they weren't in complete awe from the big guy in red.

Some children screeched in excitement. Most had a pretty good list of things they were expecting this year. Others, like 18 month old Thomas Desimone, stared in a daze with jaws dropped to the floor.
This was the first of what will be a series of events to help benefit Westwood Day, which is scheduled to take place in the on Sept. 22.
