Poll: Postal Service Faces Bankruptcy, Are You Concerned?

By early 2012, mail delivery could be noticeably slower.

Come next spring, you may notice a change in mail delivery.

By then, the U.S. Postal Service, facing bankruptcy, will have moved forward with cuts to first-class mail that is expected to slow delivery, as well as reduce the chance for stamped letters to arrive the next day, according to a Huffington Post report Monday.

Specifically, Westwood residents could notice a slow down in the delivery of anything ranging from check payments to Netflix DVDs, or even newspapers and mail-order prescription drugs. More details on the estimated $3 billion in cuts are expected to be revealed later Monday.

The announcement comes just a few months after the Postal Service stated that it was assessing more than 3,000 branches of the U.S. Post Office nationwide for potential closure. More than 40 of those locations were in Massachusetts, but did not include the two branches in Westwood on and .
