PHOTOS: Halloween Fun at First Downey Fall Festival
Families gathered for the event last week to get ahead of the Halloween spirit.
Halloween for a number of trick-or-treaters in Westwood this year, but students at such Westwood schools as had a chance to celebrate the holiday ahead of time this year.
The annual Halloween party is a tradition at many elementary schools. But this year marked the first of its kind event at Downey, where students gathered on Sunday, Oct. 23 for the first annual .
"The Downey School, historically, has always done a Halloween party, where the fifth graders would put on a haunted house," Chandana Gopal, Secretary for the Downey School Parent-Teacher Organization, told Westwood Patch earlier this month. "Given that we do it every year, we figured, why not go bigger?"

The event featured a Halloween parade from 12 to 1 p.m., followed by the Downey Fall Festival from 1 to 4. A moon bounce, an obstacle course, cookie decorating, face painting, nail painting, a bean bag toss, pumpkin painting and a pocket person were also all on hand.
