A Night of Diversity, Music With the Westwood Human Rights Committee

The committee's first annual fundraiser kicks off Saturday with a performance from Branches.

Good tunes and a good cause. Sound like an ideal evening? 

Well this Saturday, that's exactly what's in store for residents in Westwood. 

From 7 to 10 p.m. at the Norfolk Golf Club, residents will gather for the first annual Westwood Human Rights Committee fundraiser.

The by Branches, a Caribbean steel band based on Boston

"The steel band is something a lot of people have talked about," said Barbara Shea, Chair of the Westwood Human Rights Committee. "We just hope to celebrate, appreciate and respect differences, and welcome different cultureal and ethnic diversity in our community."

The fundraiser aligns with the committee's goal of working to help develop and support a culture of diversity and tolerance in Westwood. 

Hors d'oeuvres will be served and a cash bar will be available for attendees. 

Tickets can be purchased for $25 at the door, but those interested are asked to contact Lisa Zeghibe at lmzeghibe@msn.com or 781-329-9646 prior to the event to hold tickets before arriving. 

The committee is looking to raise a few thousand dollars, Shea said, and the event will offer the chance for residents to expand their culture.

"They're supporting a worthy cuase and having a fun evening," she said.

Sponsors of the event include The Cooperative Bank, and Dedham Savings, and Roche Bros. donated desserts.
