Stretch Code Information Session

The Westwood Environmental Action Committee will present information about the Stretch Code, which is Article 19 on the Town Meeting warrant.  Passage of the Stretch Energy Code is one of 5 requirements a municipality must meet to achieve Green Community status in the Commonwealth of Mass.  

Towns with a Green Community designation are eligible for
six-figure grants to make investments in municipal projects that would achieve substantial reductions in energy use and cost. 

Stretch Code is a higher standard to which many future
building projects would have to conform to achieve greater energy efficiency than the standard building code requires.  106 municipalities in Mass. have adopted this code.
