Manners for a 5-Star Mothers’ Day
A student at Perkins School for the Blind introduces herself to first impression & etiquette expert Janet L. Parnes
Children ages 8-11 will learn how to alleviate awkwardness
and behave respectfully and considerately at home and in social situations. In honor of Mother’s Day, the Children will also be prepared to treat Mom ( or the special lady in their lives) as the Guest of Honor at a family meal.
First impression & etiquette expert Janet Parnes will facilitate the Workshop titled Manners for a 5-Star Mothers’ Day. Ms. Parnes, a graduate of the Protocol School of Washington® has facilitated etiquette workshops for Westwood Recreation and conducts the annual Royal Tea Party. She will use stories, rhymes, role-play, and intriguing historical trivia to teach the following topics:

The friendly, comfortable introduction: posture, eye contact, the handshake, responding
Basic dining skills: when to be seated/start eating, the table setting, napkin and silverware handling; cutting technique; passing food; restaurant manners; dining dilemmas and how to host the Honored Guest on Mothers' Day.

Being a considerate family member, friend and classmate: courtesy and cliques; lunchroom etiquette; responding to gossip; respecting differing opinions
The Workshop will include a snack, workbook, gift, and Guest-of-Honor service hint card for each child to take home. Class size is limited to 12 to allow for individual support and each child's comfort.
Price: $45 for Westwood residents; $55 for children from other towns.
