First Parish of Westwood Excited by Sale of Parish Hall Property

The First Parish of Westwood, a congregation of the United Church of Christ, is pleased to inform friends, neighbors and the wider community that it has successfully sold it Parish Hall property, located across the street from the Meeting House.   The building and property were sold to St. Mark's of Ephesus Orthodox Cathedral, currently located in Roslindale, who intend to make it their new church home.  First Parish looks forward to welcoming their new neighbors.

Proceeds from this sale will help fund the construction of an addition onto First Parish's Meeting House.  Once the addition is completed, the church will realize its vision of one contiguous building for worship, administration, education, fellowship and community use.

This bold decision has been made prayerfully, after a two-year process of self study which included a review of building needs along with their suitability for current and future ministry needs.  Consolidating property to one side of the street comes at a significant time as First Parish engages in vibrant conversations about the place of church in modern culture.

Building Design and Capital Campaign committees have been formed to help the congregation pursue the next phase of its exciting future.  A newly adopted mission statement will help guide the form and function of the building.  The goal is to create a place that aids in growing faith, sharing love, and grounding lives.

First Parish knows that a ministry does not survive for more than 283 years without great faith in God.  With pride in its heritage and fond memories of the Parish Hall property, this community of faith is moving forward by faith, building for ministry in the 21st century.
