Westwood Police Cracking Down on Drunk Driving This Weekend
Officers will be on patrol as part of a state-wide crackdown through New Year's Day to ensure safe driving.
The is joining a statewide crackdown this weekend on impaired driving through the holiday.
"The goal is to increase visible traffic enforcement over the holidays in hopes that motorists who may have been drinking as part of their celebration, choose not to get behind the wheel," Westwood Public Safety Officer Sgt. Paul Sicard said in a statement Wednesday. "We don't want to see any unnecessary tragedies, especially at this time of the year."
The initiative, dubbed "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over," is funded through a grant from the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security's Highway Safety Division.

Westwood Police will stop drivers committing traffic violations through the weekend, and will, during the course of the stop, inquire whether the drivers are sober.
The enforcement will run through Monday, Jan. 2.
